Fuel sending unit problem?

The only fix for a bad sending unit is to replace it. I'd pull the wire loose, at the sending unit, and see if the gauge drops to zero as it should and then ground the wire and make sure the gauge goes to the full mark as it should. If both those tests are normal you're looking at a new sending unit.
