I've done nude shoots with several woman and a few men. The men's reasons were "this is hilarious," the women's reasons were more along the lines of your friends - they thought it made them feel y. I've only shot women I'm close with (the men were not friends), and though all of the women were very shy at first, after the first shoot they were coming back to me and asking if I wanted to do another.
